Heather Walker died early Wednesday morning, April 26, according to a Facebook post from her campaignThe Marblehead mother of two worked with the Celtics as the vice president of public relations for 16 years.

"She isn't fighting anymore and can finally rest. She is with so many who have gone before her that I'm sure she was welcomed with open arms," the post read. "There is so much to say, but I just can't right now. It hurts too much. I love you so much, Heather. The girls, too. Now it's your turn to rest and be at peace."

Walker's family launched the #Move4Heather campaign after she was diagnosed with glioblastoma in July 2021. The campaign raised over $640,000 dollars for Glioblastoma Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where Walker recieved treatment.

"Our hearts and sympathy are with Heather’s loving family and friends, whom she cherished," the Celtics said on Twitter. "She will remain part of our fabric for as long as the Celtics go on."

Last year, the Celtics honored Walker as the "Hero Among Us" during a game at TD Garden. Walker and her family were brought to center court where they were met with a standing ovation.

"No words can express how much you will be missed Heather," a friend commented on the Facebook post. "Your friendship will always be something I treasure. The grace and fortitude you showed over the many unbelievably difficult months is something to be admired."

Information about Walker's funeral services have yet to be announced.
